From the earliest stages of designing FDD AI, we recognized that attorneys, financial institutions, private equity firms, consultants, and other professional organizations would expect far more than powerful research capabilities. They would expect an environment in which their information remains protected, their research remains private, and their clients’ confidential materials are handled with the same level of care they would expect within their own organizations.
Everything about the platform has been designed with that objective in mind.
Your Research Belongs to You
Every research project represents time, expertise, and intellectual effort. In many cases, it also reflects confidential client matters, acquisition opportunities, litigation strategy, or proprietary business analysis.
That information belongs to you.
When you upload a document to FDD AI, it stays within the project you placed it in. It is not shared with other customers, it is never added to the FDD library that powers the research experience, and it is never used to train or improve the underlying AI models. Only you can open it, even within an organization account.
Uploaded documents, the text we extract from them, and the structured data we pull from them are deleted 30 days after upload, or immediately when you delete the document or its project. Reports you have already produced stay in your history until you delete them.
Whether you upload a confidential Franchise Disclosure Document, an internal financial analysis, a legal memorandum, due diligence materials, or other supporting documentation, those materials remain part of your private research environment. For law firms, financial institutions, and private equity firms, that level of confidentiality is not a preference. It is a professional obligation, and the platform is designed to respect it.

FDD AI combines secure account management, project isolation, organizational administration, and encrypted connections into a single research environment built for professional organizations.
Organizations may establish multiple users under a centralized administrative account while maintaining complete separation between individual research projects. Attorneys working on different client matters, analysts evaluating separate acquisitions, or consultants serving multiple clients each work within their own project without exposing their research to others within the organization. An organization’s administrator manages accounts and billing without gaining access to a member’s uploaded documents.
Built on Providers We Chose Carefully
FDD AI runs on servers we control, located in the United States. Your documents and your research are stored there and nowhere else. We do not copy them to third-party cloud storage.
We rely on a small number of providers, each for one purpose:
Anthropic answers questions about the FDD library. Excerpts from the library and the text of your question are sent to Anthropic under commercial terms that prohibit using your content to train models.
Amazon Bedrock reads the documents you upload, under a zero data retention arrangement: the provider does not store your text, does not log it, and does not use it to train models.
Stripe handles payments. Card details never reach our servers.
Mailgun delivers the email we send you, such as verification links and receipts, and nothing else.
Our objective has never been to build security from scratch. We build on providers trusted by businesses around the world and focus our own effort on the franchise intelligence platform itself.
Technology alone, however, does not create trust. Trust is created through thoughtful design, responsible stewardship of information, and a commitment to protecting the interests of every organization that uses the platform.
Privacy Is a Design Principle, Not an Afterthought
Privacy is often discussed as a legal requirement. We believe it should also be viewed as a design principle.
FDD AI keeps a clear separation between customer-owned information and the FDD library that powers the research experience. Your questions and answers appear only in your own history, and an answer becomes visible to anyone else only when you create a share link, which you can revoke at any time. Anonymised question logs help us find gaps in the library. We do not sell or share your questions with other customers or third parties.
Simply put, your research is your research.
